About ExpatMoneyChannel

ExpatMoneyChannel is the first comprehensive financial website dedicated solely to the 5.5 million British expatriates who currently live overseas, as well as the tens of thousands planning to live abroad. At present, there is no single portal where expatriates can get independent financial information on the wide range of financial options available to them, navigate the latest complex tax and regulatory laws, compare products as well as participate in forums and surveys specifically on finance. The launch of ExpatMoneyChannel changes this.

  1. We are focused. We aim to be a one-stop shop for all financial issues facing expatriates. The journalists working on ExpatMoneyChannel have a vast amount of dedicated experience writing on expatriate personal finance issues.
  2. Our site is a channel. Viewers can access information in a variety of formats including podcasts, videos, presentations and the time-honoured written word. We will use social networking such as Twitter and Facebook to alert, inform and update our viewers. This unique combination allows for a more intense, interactive and interesting experience, so we like to think we are a step up from the average website!
  3. We believe firmly in education. Faced with the amount of choices they need to make, expatriates are often vulnerable. They need easy to read news items and articles that break down the information to help them make an informed decision. Our editorial policy firmly puts education high up on our agenda.
  4. We want to give expatriates a voice. ExpatMoneyChannel provides the target market with a single source of reliable, up-to-date, relevant, financial information produced in plain English in an interesting and engaging way. Our tone is authoritative, but friendly and supportive. We also aim to be

  • Educational – this will be a main focus for our site. Decisions faced by expatriates are often clouded in confusion due to a lack of financial information. We believe it is paramount that expatriates understand the issues before making decisions about their personal finances.
  • Inclusive – Each element of the site moves viewers forward. For example, clicking on an article gives viewers a range of options such as comment on an article, ask a question on the forum or to our panel of experts; watch an associated video, listen to an associated podcast, linking up associated topics or news. 
  • Engaging – Allowing the viewers to be part of a community through forums, polls and survey participation, posting up their own stories and through our facility to rate providers through customer experiences.
